The Health Care Rights Law is Under Attack: What It Is and Why It Matters
The Health Care Rights Law (aka the HCRL, aka Section 1557) is the nondiscrimination clause of the Affordable Care Act, and protects transgender people from discrimination by health insurers, hospitals, and doctors. The Trump administration has signaled it will reverse the stance of Health and Human Services (HHS) that transgender discrimination is sex discrimination. This could would likely increase anti-transgender health care discrimination, and could directly harm transgender people across the country. This webinar will explain why the HCRL is so important, clarify how the Trump administration plans to undo the HCRL’s protections for transgender people, and provide you with specific and concrete ways you can fight back.
