We Must Build the Change We Want to See

Since our founding, the National Center for Transgender Equality has sought to use every tool available, as assertively as we can. And for 15 years, NCTE has fought to win rights and protections for trans people at the local, state and federal levels. But over the last year, things have changed and NCTE must adapt again. Simply put, trans people and our families are under attack by the White House, in legislatures across the nation and on television every night.

At the same time, we are smartly leveraging these attacks to win over good people who hadn’t yet become our allies. That will continue to make us stronger. When the President attacks our children or our servicemembers, we must welcome new friends who will help deepen our roots, broaden our support and make the President pay politically. We must also close ranks and let our voices be heard, collectively and loudly.

But to grow stronger in this hostile environment, we need more tools with which to fight.
